BIO
Julianne was born in Melbourne and now lives and works in North East Victoria.
Julianne is a multifaceted designer, graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in the School of Creative & Performing Arts with majors in both 2 and 3 Dimensional art. She then went on to complete post-graduate studies in Graphic Design. After many years working commercially as a designer and creative director across various disciplines, Julianne has now opened her own creative studio. It is here that she explores materials and theories of deep time and ritual at a personal scale of domestic objects - of mementos and small shrines - of coveted objects.
Her approach is characterised by a deep narrative exploration: each piece is born following a deliberate line of enquiry. Form follows idea. Both poetic and formal research forms the basis of this method. Mediums and processes are explored and sought through curiosity and passionate deep driving into the potential of both material and form.
Taking cues from brutalist architecture, mathematics, physics and Lo-TEK - unexpected and opposing materials intersect and are assembled as neo-ritual objects fit for the end of the Anthropocene. It is the familiar strange.
